There are some moments in life that leave you breathless. Spending time with this group of people was so much fun, and it was amazing to see them take care of these birds, look into their eyes and feel a connection. The Great Basin Wildlife Rescue is run by Patti (the beautiful blonde in the overalls), and a handful of volunteers, including those pictured here. Their work includes rescuing injured animals and returning them to their natural homes. during this photoshoot, we released a little fully healed screech owl. Please check out this group (here is their facebook page). I loved taking all of these portraits and spending time with these sweet wild birds and their healers.

Bonus::: They let me hold the barn owl < 3 my heart could burst! What a beautiful creature. The detail in that feathery face astounds me. (photo by Jordan Englund)
